BOSTON, MA (ContentDesk) August 1, 2005 ? CY Digital has announced today that it plans to offer home theater shoppers a bit of relief when it comes to picking out a new system.
Typically, consumers might head over to Best Buy or a local electronics store, maybe even look online for TVs, but CY Digital has simplified this experience.
Consumers usually do not know which products are high quality, let alone how much to pay for them.Buying from CY Digital requires no technical analysis of TV specifications, various inputs, speakers, receivers, and cables.
Christopher Yeomans and Yumin Choi set up CY Digital after graduating from Babson College.
Putting their business degrees to work they realized an opportunity in the home theater market after going through the tedious process of purchasing a home theater.
In an industry filled with slick salespeople and hundreds of TVs and sound systems to choose from, Choi and Yeomans have successfully brought simplicity to the process of buying a home theater.
Having researched all the latest technology, Choi and Yeomans put together a range of professional quality systems at 20-30% below list price.
Yeomans said, "We do offer great value, but that's not really what we're going after.
We're here to make the process of buying a home theater as simple as pointing to a package and saying ?I want that one' and giving the consumer everything they need in the process."The packages are creatively named, including a Baby-Step Package and a Celebrity Package, with prices ranging from $2,999 to $13,999.
Just in time for the upcoming season is the Football Special Package, which in addition to a plasma TV and surround sound system, also includes DirecTV set-up and a high definition TiVo for pausing, replaying, and saving games. All of the packages use the Panasonic professional TVs, known for their outstanding contrast ratio and life span of 60,000 hours (that's 20 years of viewing TV 8 hours per day).
These plasma TVs range in size from 37" to 65" and are included in all of the CY Digital packages. The sound system is from Orb Audio, a company that is making a name for itself among audiophiles for its compact designs which outshine Bose and other cube speakers.
A 400 watt subwoofer produces bass that is described by one editor as having "fit an atom bomb into a 12' x 12' x 12' cabinet."
A Yamaha receiver is also included and provides 540 watts of power to the orb speakers which can be wall mounted or put on stands. As a last addition to the high quality components, all packages come with Monster Cables, delivering outstanding signal transfer to individual components.
CY Digital has accomplished what many consumers have been looking for: a simple way to buy a new home theater system.
CY Digital also offers a more customized shopping experience with an in-home consultation for buyers who are still not sure what package to purchase.

LCD or DLP - Which Is Best For You?
For the past couple of years, the battle for competing TV screen superiority has been mainly between plasma screen TVs and LCD TVs. And to be sure, either would make a fine choice for the average television viewer. And in terms of sheer numbers sold, plasma TVs have outsold LCDs up to this point. But increasingly TV manufacturers, such as Sony, have been shifting away from plasma screens to newer technologies instead, and one of those is DLP.
DLP stands for Digital Light Processing, while LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display. They both use completely different ways to create the image on a television screen, although the final product is remarkably similar when viewed side by side.
There are only a few minor differences to be considered and here they are:
LCD screens tend to be best when viewed at a direct angle to the TV, in other words, pretty much right in front of it. Older LCD screens especially were hard to view as the viewing angle increased...
Cheap LCD TVs
As time passes, the prices of LCD TVs are going nowhere but down. A few years back, there were only a few name brands such as Sony, LG, Philips, Samsung, etc. But there are several new entrants in the LCD TV market such as Westinghouse, Maxent, Norcent, Syntax, Olevia, etc. These new companies are pricing TVs lower than the established brands, sometimes even by as much as $1000. Naturally this is creating a furor in the market as even big names are being forced to pull their prices down to keep up with the competition.
The question always asked when buying a LCD TV is, why not go for a cheaper brand if it provides the same quality for a $1000 less? The purpose of a LCD TV is to produce high quality images.
Newer brands (read cheaper brands) force themselves in the market by lowering their prices, but their quality is rarely up to snuff. They may not be able to compare with the images produced by, say, a Sharp or a Sony. There are many nuances in pictures like contrast...

5 Reasons Why A DLP HDTV Should Be In Your Future
Television technology has been essentially static for several decades until just recently. The old CRT tube TVs reigned supreme for years simply because the broadcasting technology could not allow for anything better to come along. But HDTV has changed the whole TV viewing horizon, and there is no better time to make the switch from analog to HDTV. Here are five reasons why a HDTV DLP should be in your future soon:
1. The FCC has passed a law that requires all TV stations to broadcast in digital format by the end of 2006, and that means that almost all broadcasting will be done in HDTV by sometime in 2007.
After that, if you want to be able to receive over the air TV signals on your old analog TV set, you will need a digital to analog converter box to do that. So why not be ready for that change by getting the necessary equipment in place now as prices have fallen dramatically lately?
2. HDTV not only means improved picture resolution, but it also...
